I love Grandma's Tea Shop. I use it like a little home away from home. If I am tired, or want a little chat in the middle of my shopping, I stop in for a restorative pot of tea and a scone. The ladies are always ready to join me, or allow me quiet reflection if that is what I need. On Friday several of my friends stop by at 1:00. We always have a great tea together. We make plans for shopping, lunch or a day trip. The tea shop also has great shopping. I can always find a little something to take home. There are always great antiques as well as a lot of new merchandise to purchase.

To all who enjoy and take time for tea. I can not say enough about how wonderful the tea service was at Over Thé Teacup in Camp Hill, PA. During my recent visit the hostess, Janet Young, was gracious, and a welcoming delight in this very busy world we live in. The tea cakes and sweets that were served were imaginative and hearty, also served was a wonderful strawberry soup which was one of the many extras not expected with a tea. The table was beautifully appointed keeping in character with the quaintness of a small English cottage. Ms. Young has been in business for five years and has extensive experience as a tea and etiquette consultant. A visit to Over Thé Teacup is a definite must for those who take time to visit with friends.

I went to this tea room with one other lady for a special Christmas tea. We were expecting quite a showing as the event cost $30. We were very disappointed in the food and its presentation. Our "meal" began with a round Carr's cracker and some jam and cream cheese on a paper plate. I really was not expecting a paper plate at all. A plate of small finger foods was served. They seemed to me to be the type you get from the freezer section of a warehouse store that sells items in bulk. None were remarkable. Some were even unidentifiable. Dessert was even a bigger disappointment. In a twist of coincidence, we had just had a store-bought cake at an office party. It was okay for a store-bought cake, but I was shocked when it showed up in front of me cut into a tiny slice on a white doily. This was so not worth the money. While the tea was very good, no cream was served with it. No lumps of sugar, either ... just the commercial looking packets. One perk of the tea was going on a trolley ride in a bus that looked like a trolley. I don't know if that is what made the tea so expensive or not, but that was definitely no fun. It was hot and steamy in there and lasted way too long. I was practically sick by the time I got back to the tea room. From the grumpiness of others, I perceived this to be a common ailment. The lady owner was very, very nice, but the food was terrible. I do not plan to go back and I've shared this info with my friends.

Attention to detail is obvious as you enjoy afternoon tea in this cozy cottage. We were seated in the front room (there are several little rooms) which featured four tables with white high backed chairs. The tables were covered with cloth and lace toppers. The place setting had a teacup with a little hankie tucked in the handle to be used as your napkin. Clever. The menu consisted of a small dish of spinach greens, strawberries, and creamy poppy seed dressing. Homemade lemonade with a sugar frosted rim complemented the salad. After the salad was completed, a medley of sandwiches arrived on a doily covered pedestaled cake plate. The variety of sandwiches was a sight to see. It included open face lavender chicken on thin baguette slices, open face thinly sliced seasoned cucumber sandwich on party brown bread, open face cheese and carrot mixed with mayo on a large brown bread circle topped with an olive slice, and a cornucopia shaped white bread spread with a cream cheese and apricot jam with almond slivers. Each guest was provided two each of the above sandwiches. A pot of perfectly brewed mango and passion fruit tea was served with the sandwiches.
A triangular toasted scone was served on individual plates with a small dollop of cream and raisin chutney. Dessert was served on a blue plate topped with a white doily and included an individual round pineapple upside down cake and the tiniest chocolate dipped ice cream cone. Kiwi & Strawberry tea was served with dessert.
Afternoon tea was $14.95 per person plus tax and gratuity. This is an enjoyable tea room that provides a break from the hustle and bustle of daily activities.

The afternoon tea was really good, roomy, comfortable and exceptionally clean. We were verbally given the menu and list of teas to be served before the meal. The hostess (owner and server were very polite. We did not see the hostess after that until the check was brought. I wish they would have told us what we  were going to eat as it was served. The tray was just set down on the table and the server left. The scones were served cold, I would have enjoyed them more if they were warm, but everything was very good. I have been to tea rooms that were a little more personable.

This was my second visit to Uniquely Yours Tea Room. The first visit was with my husband. Yes, he loves tea and it was his suggestion to visit for lunch. Harriett made both of us feel welcomed and comfortable. The food was delicious and the service just the right balance between attentive and not hovering. So when I wanted a special going away gift for a friend who is moving to Oklahoma, I thought of tea at Uniquely Yours. Three of us went on a dreary Friday afternoon. The beautiful interior, warm service and delicious food soon had all of us fed in body and spirit. I love the large selection of loose tea in jars so you can smell them and pick out the one you want to have brewed. Sherry 2/8/2008

I wish I could say how much I like this place. Unfortunately the room was very warm, not so great in January, when you have to go back out into the cold. I got a black tea and the water wasn't hot enough (I don't know if they fully boiled it) so it tasted somewhat flat. Sandwiches were okay but tasted like they'd been sitting in the refrigerator for a day or two, flavor a little faded, bread a little soggy, didn't seem freshly made. The staff were very nice, and my companions seemed to be enjoying themselves so much that I didn't want to make a fuss. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things, maybe we got there on a bad day. Next time I'm in the area maybe I'll try again and hope it's better.

I visited this tearoom twice in a week. That's how good it is. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the atmosphere is so relaxing. They have the best tea I've ever tasted, and fortunately, they sell it so I could bring some back home with me to Tennessee. I love this place with its quiet atmosphere and classical music playing in the background. They seem to follow all the rules of tea etiquette and have my respect for this. I try to visit on each of my trips to the area which are about once a month.

This was my third trip to this tearoom and each trip has gotten a bit worse. I went this time at the insistence of a friend. The ambiance is nice but it is very crowded, and the service was very very slow even though it was not overly crowded. The scones are very good but the tea sandwiches were a little mushy. The menu is very limited and a little pricey. This will be my last trip to this tearoom as I don't always want to get tea sandwiches for lunch.

The tea at SpecialTeas is fabulous! I have been to this establishment many times and have never been disappointed. My favorite is the Empress of Japan tea which has a citrusy flavor, but friends I have taken there have loved every flavor tried. An enjoyable afternoon was spent here where a nice selection of loose leaf tea is provided. The afternoon tea selection was provided on a three tiered blue and white tray. The tea sandwiches included tuna, egg salad, cucumber and cream cheese, and turkey and jelly. A large assortment of tiny, sweet desserts were also served. Huge, delicious, warm scones (choice of plain or raisin) were served with Devon cream, strawberry jelly and lemon curd -- very good. Individual two-cup teapots are presented on a doily covered pewter tray. Large chunks of natural sugar are provided as sweetener. This was a very nice tea room, busy the day we were there, and reasonably priced. In addition to the two rooms for serving tea, they have a nice gift shop area full of assorted tea related items. This reviewer would definitely recommend a visit here ... and hopes to return some day.

Attended many dessert and afternoon teas here. This time, for a spring dessert tea, the staff each created a favorite family dessert. We had a wonderful assortment of cakes, mousse, and even a truffle. The tea selection was a mix of flavored black teas and decaf teas with a choice of iced tea as well. In the past, themes for dessert tea included a Valentine's Chocolate tea, a Christmas tea, and a Harvest tea. I've enjoyed them all! The staff and owners are extremely friendly and don't mind that we are always the last ones to leave -- we are so comfortable chatting and catching up on life in that setting. Their regular tea menu is just as pleasing as their special dessert nights.

The private party was a tea party for my niece Alexis who was turning six. Yesterday our Red Hatters chapter enjoyed the Full Breakfast Tea at The Talking Teacup. Our choices of tea were brewed beautifully and arrived in individual teapots. The breakfast began with a selection of tea breads and fragrant scones, fresh from the oven, served with jam and Devonshire cream. The next course included a frittata, a quiche, and a refreshing fruit salad. The frittata was made with chicken and cheese, and the quiche of the day was an unusual combination of chicken with sweet red peppers. Marvelous! The service was excellent, and fresh tea was offered. We stopped in the gift shop and couldn't resist doll tea sets in a pink willow design, beautiful tea books, and decorative sterling silver teapot jewelry. We had a lovely time, and will certainly be back!

Was very disappointed in this tearoom during our first visit. Waitress was new and service was terrible. Tea came out lukewarm and had to ask twice for milk. Tea sandwiches were disappointing and skimpy for what you paid. Scones were good as was the homemade curd but jam was Smuckers served in a restaurant package as was the whipped butter. I expect a better presentation at a tearoom than from the local diner. Plates sat on table for a long time waiting to be cleared. They really need better and more experienced staff.

Simpson House Tea Room is in a renovated historic home in the Village of Eagle, Chester Springs, PA. Four of us meet for lunch, I had the Tea Party, which included a cup of soup, a pot of tea, three tea sandwiches and dessert. The Cream of Broccoli soup was perfct with just a hint of cheddar cheese. The English Evening tea was full flavored and perfect for the day. I selected the Black Forest Strudel for dessert. A perfect lunch. One friend had the quiche, and the two others the Tea Sandwich assortment which are six tea sandwiches. All had the soup. The Simpson House is graced with tall windows and has a light airy feel. The service was attentive but not over bearing. Kathy and Karen operate another tea room which we frequent, Simpson House exceded our expectations. Just a lovely place to meet friends for lunch or tea or Sunday brunch in a historic village. Easy access to PA Turnpike, Rte. 113.

Terrace Garden Café at Greystone Gardens, Clarks Summit, PA

Visited: May, 2003
Meal: Afternoon tea. Type of tea: Teabags. Served: In a teacup.
Tea: Good.  Food: Good. Service: Good.  Appearance: Excellent.
Comments:
Tea was served with the following:
a) a mini croissant filled with roast beef, mayo, and pickled onions
b) mini cheesecakes
c) mini cakes
d) strawberries
e) cream tarts
f) scones
Everything was delicious except the scones, which were a disappointment as they were stale. Several of the other patrons left theirs untouched but for a bite or two, as did we.
We had Harney & Sons' chamomile tea, which was excellent, but I would have enjoyed a bigger tea selection.

I have been to two private parties catered by The Tea Trolley of Delta, PA. Both times it was a marvelous and delicious experience. The teas were just perfect and the food was incredible. Ham/pineapple, chicken/almond, bleu cheese/pear sandwiches - faboulous. Cherry cheese cake, pumpkin squares, profiteroles, and brownies as well as scones with clotted cream, lemon curd and strawberry jam - wonderful. Service is fabulous. Rachel and Cindy are the perfect tea hostesses. I would love to enjoy frequently.

A delightful tea shop on Lancaster Pike in Devon, PA, western suburbs of Philadelphia, on the Main Line. Serves wonderful teas, and tea sandwiches, and English specialties, including scones with lemon curd and clotted cream -- the best! Decor is darling and tea items -- pots, bags, cozies, and special items from England -- are for sale. Have visited this tiny tea room many times and have purchased their tea sandwiches for parties at my home.

The selection of loose leafs teas is quiet staggering, although the staff is *so* helpful in helping you chose the teas for you ... they even offer samples. Make sure to stock up on your favorites before you leave.

While we fully enjoyed the food we felt that being constantly interrupted so that the owner could tell us how everything was home made by her was tacky. I also took offense to the loud statement made to another group "Unlike other tea rooms I make everything from scratch" I have probably been to each tea room within a 150 mile radius and have found that 98% of the tea rooms make their food from scratch. The owner also made some other not so nice remarks when referring to the other tea rooms in the area. Sorry as a person taking tea in this tea room, I do not like to hear this kind of comments.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

A very frilly/lacy Victorian atmosphere. Excellent food, beautiful presentation. More food than one could possibly eat! A bit pricey, but worth it. We had to wait 20 minutes to pay our check at the register, and they weren't very nice about it. The gift shop selections are very limited and disappointing. We drove 2 hours to get there, and were not sorry! All in all, a very pleasant experience.

The attention to detail in the presentation of the food is excellent. The full afternoon tea includes soup, scone with Devonshire cream, muffin, four tea sandwiches, and four desserts for $12. You have your choice of tea, coffee, or chilled beverage. Individual teapots are brought to the table with hot water and teabags are on the table to choose from. The overall ambiance and service is excellent. The tea menu changes monthly with a different theme. They also serve Petite Afternoon Tea (four sandwiches, bowl of homemade soup, and a pot of tea), Dessert Tea (four assorted desserts and pot of tea), soup, warm scones, quiche of the day, or a Mediterranean pasta salad. The Mansion also offers off-street parking. This is a definite return trip!

This Afternoon Tea/Special 'Secret' Birthday Gift to my Mother was a most pleasant and relaxing "Ladies Day!" We all came to The Eternity Tea Room in a van my Father made ready for the trip, just so all the ladies could ride together in comfort and companionship. The drive to The Eternity Tea Room was so breathtaking and there were magnificent views of the mountains as we ventured closer toward The Eternity Tea Room. This is something all six of us have dreamed of doing in our lifetime - attending a tea, and now our dreams have been realized! How lovely to enjoy it with those we hold most dear to our hearts, our family. We had my Mother, two dear Aunts, my Mother's Best Friend, who my sister and I call our "Aunt", and Mom's two daughters - my sister and I. We enjoyed wearing hats, chatting, drinking tea, laughing and listening to the Teacup story read by my Aunt which was found at our table. The food was cheesy, savory, creamy and soothing, sweet and fresh, and warming to the palate, tasty and delightful (I think the word would be scrummy (scrumptious and yummy all together!), and beautifully presented! The Eternity Tea Room smelled heavenly! While we sat for hours tasting each other's freshly brewed pots of tea, and dining on the beautiful presentation of food before us. In the background, while we visiting and shared in each other’s company, The Eternity Tea Room was filled with the most charming harp music playing to delight our ears. The hostess was so welcoming, we felt like family. More could be said, but you must come and see, taste and enjoy it for yourself. Please come, sit a while - and you will leave The Eternity Tea Room feeling as we did - alive with joy and peace and so full-filled! We will come back again soon to enjoy The Eternity Tea Room!

I was equally as charmed with the way the tea and food was presented. The tea room was beautifully decorated and there were lovely hats to try on and wear during our tea time. Began the Luncheon [sic] with homemade zuchini-dill soup, followed by an array of 3 different, yet complimentary tea sandwiches. The chicken salad was the best I ever tasted! Scones were served right from the oven with an abundance of lemon curd, creme and homemade pineapple/rhubarb jam. The tea was served hot and refilled by our hosts several times throughout our meal. The dessert tray was just spectacular! Especially the hand dipped strawberries. Everything...was simply divine! Great atmosphere and lovely hosts! Spent three "pampered" hours in a historic setting. I traveled 90 minutes to have tea at The Gilbertsville Tea Room and it was worth every minute of the trip. I was charmed from the moment I passed through the pretty little fragrant garden. I just love the owner, Patty. I was so impressed by her talent and friendliness. She has a real flair for decorating that is Victorian in style and lovely without being overpowering and stuffy. If you visit (and I highly recommend that you do) be sure to go upstairs to the restrooms and see the curtains that she has made using vintage handkerchiefs.  What a unique idea (that I'd like to copy for my home). Patty's creativity is shown in the presentation of her many delicious food menu items. The tea, chosen from a large variety, was brewed perfectly and I can't say enough about the great selection of goodies and how tasty everything was. I'm already looking forward to going again.

The Gilbertsville Tea Room is my absolute favorite. I have visited several different tea rooms and although most were quite good, the Gilbertsville Tea Room was perfect. From the easy access parking and the beautiful décor to the great variety of delicious and beautifully presented food and teas. The owner, Patty, is friendly and charming as well as a marvelous cook. This was my second visit this summer and my friends and I are looking forward to going back again soon. If you're looking for a wonderful, relaxing experience and great food and tea in a lovely, friendly atmosphere treat yourself to an afternoon tea at the Gilbertsville Tea Room. Enjoy!

My wife and I attended the Valentine's Day dinner and we were quite pleased with the whole affair. It surely made for a wonderful Valentine's Day party for us and was truly an extremely romantic evening. The servers was charming and the meal and service were first class. We have been there three times so far and are always ready for a return visit.

My Mom and I enjoyed a high [sic] tea at the Gilbertsville Tea Room. The selection of teas was wonderful. We tried two teas and loved them both. The food was fabulous. We had a tuna melt -- one of the best I've ever had. The owner, Patty, was delightful. We loved the décor and are looking forward to enjoying another tea here!

Three of us ladies visited this delightful tea room on a Saturday. We drove an hour to get here, and it was worth it. I drank a wonderfully-brewed Earl Grey tea. One of the other ladies tried an unusual Vanilla Pomegranate tea and liked it so much that she bought some to take home afterward. We enjoyed various menu choices including the delicious soup served in a lovely shell dish. The tea sandwiches and sweets were decorated with fresh flower petals. We had wonderful blueberry scones with jam and Devon cream. Everything was served with a lovely fruit garnish of orange, topped with strawberry and trimmed with fresh pansy blossoms. After our tea, we went upstairs to the gift shop. I especially loved the delightful French cottage decorations made of decorated European-style tin ceiling tiles in creamy white. It was a lovely outing to a very wonderful place.

The Gilbertsville Tea Room was a lovely, relaxing experience. It is tastefully decorated with the charm and beauty of yesteryear. The food was wonderful and my tea was perfect. At the time they were having a special menu; it was the Dolly and Me Tea. On this particular day a sampler was served, which was wonderful, with your choice of a hot tea or a delightful peach ice tea ... delicious. The service was wonderful and pleasant considering how busy they were. It was the perfect way to perk up a rainy day with a good friend. Thank you for making my day special.

I have been to this tea room three times in the last six months. I visit a lot of tearooms and think this is one of the most charming. It is run by a woman and her family. Her oldest daughter has served us twice and she is delightful. The food is always excellent. I particularly like the care in which they have decorated the rooms. There is also a very nice gift shop upstairs. I highly recommend this tearoom!

I have visited the Gilbertsville Tea Room on four separate occasions, one of those being the Christmas Candlelight Tea, and I was extremely satisfied with everything at each and every visit. I am especially fond of the chicken salad, the desserts, and the wonderful gift shop. I have lived in Gilbertsville for over thirty years and I am so thrilled that we finally have an establishment of this caliber in our neighborhood. I applaud all the people who work so hard to make the Gilbertsville Tea Room a success and I hope they continue to enjoy good fortune in our community.

This was our first meeting as a newly formed chapter of the Red Hat Society. There were six of us in attendance, and I provided small red and purple primroses as centerpieces. The waitress couldn't have been nicer, and offered to take our group's picture for their website. The food, tea choices, service, and ambiance were great. It was certainly a perfect choice for our first meeting because it typified a charming and elegant tearoom. As a former Bed and Breakfast owner, I was quite impressed with the attention to detail. The staff was more than accommodating, and it will definitely warrant a re-visit as our group begins our tearoom circuit.

The staff is pleasant, and the décor is stunning. The presentation of everything is top notch. Although not a tea drinker, I enjoy the atmosphere of a tearoom and The Gilbertsville Tea Room is the best. Do yourself a favor and make this a tea room to visit. Make sure you visit their Gift Shop upstairs. Most of the crafts are homemade by the owner or her daughter and WOW. They are truly gifted.

My visit to the tearoom was to treat my two daughters-in-law. We had a delightful time. We had the five-course tea menu. The tea was delicious; many new flavors we haven't even heard of. The ham and cheese quiche was excellent, piping hot. The scones were delightful, and the presentation of the food was simply beautiful, like a picture out of Victoria magazine. The carrot soup was also delicious. Our entire tea was very relaxed. Afterwards we visited the Gift Shop and had a wonderful chat with the owner Patty, and she was most gracious. And we loved the fact that Patty's husband is so supportive of her. What a beautiful husband and father. They are truly blessed with three daughters also. The tearoom is decorated just beautifully -- a lot of love went into it. We will certainly go back again. I can't wait to go back at Christmas; they say it is absolutely beautiful. Love and blessings to you Patty and Staff. You made our afternoon most enjoyable.

WOW!! This is the kind of tearoom that I have been looking for! It is decorated so beautifully. Each room is different colors and styles but still in a Victorian style. They serve their tea just the way I like it: loose tea brewed and then brought to your table. They have over 20 different types of tea to choose from. The food was great; each tea sandwich was decorated. It really looked like the people have put a lot of time and effort into this restaurant. I will be a regular at this tearoom!

This is an excellent place to enjoy tea. They have friendly staff to wait on your every want. The rooms were decorated very nicely. Perhaps more importantly during these hot summer months, the rooms were kept at a very cool and comfortable climate to ensure better drinking of that delicious cup of hot tea. (The selection is quite remarkable.) In short, please take my advice and make this a tearoom you visit. I am sure you won't be disappointed. Kudos to the Gilbertsville Tea Room! I was surprised by a friend for my birthday. The entire meal experience was wonderful. My mouth still waters thinking about the quiche. The service was great and the atmosphere was spectacular! My girlfriend and I were so pleased with the price, we don't have to wait for another birthday to enjoy the experience again! We ventured upstairs to the new Gift Shop. They have great tea related items with wonderful Shabby Chic items. At those nice prices, I started my Christmas shopping! I'll be back!!!

The tea was excellent and the server was very helpful in choosing a tea we would enjoy. The only faux pas was the lukewarm soup served with the five-course tea luncheon. However, the server made no complaints about needing to re-heat the soup. It was a bit pricey, $60 total for four people.

Some of the tea sandwiches served used the "heel" end of the bread. Told we would get no dessert as we did not clean our plates. No soup spoon for the soup, and when asked for a soup spoon were given a teaspoon. Server was marginal at best and tea was warm. Overpriced for the quality of food and service presented. The décor was very nice and parking was excellent.

The owner is gracious and friendly, along with her husband who usually greets us at our car and escorts us into the tea room. Food is excellent and a large choice of teas available. Beautiful teapots grace the table. Each person is served their own plate which I prefer - eliminates having to divide everything between the group. Located in a small town in an early 1900's house. This is a tea room not to be missed!

The overall appearance was okay but not "real" teahouse looking. The food was good but way over priced. The presentation left a lot to be desired. 2 of us ordered the high [sic] tea entree and both were served on 1 plate and we were told we each got one of everything. No, No! The owner seemed to be in a rather testy mood. I've been to much better!!!!!

I was very disappointed at the lack of presentation and service we got at this tearoom. It was definetly over priced for what we got. The teapots were dirty and teastained. The teasandwiches were warm and the bread was hard on the edges, which told me they were sitting out for awhile. Overall it was not a pleasant experience.

What an adorable tea room. My three sisters and I had our traditional "sisters' tea" experience there when I last visited. We sat out on the window-enclosed, brick-floored patio where fans sent gentle breezes through the warm summer afternoon. I highly recommend the chicken salad BLT. My sisters just loved the broccoli cheese soup. And the desserts -- you must try the Texas million-dollar pie. The only slight disappointment came when I ordered tea. I received hot water in a beautiful teapot and a little basket of tea bags. I did find my favorite tea, British Breakfast tea, and brewed a tea bag in the pot. However, I think the pot could have used two tea bags. I can't remember if there was more than one of my favorite tea bags. I should have asked about it to make sure I had a good brew. I guess I was expecting it to come already brewed. The tea was a tad weak, but I still enjoyed it and the whole experience.

Barbara Ann's Tea Room, located in an 1897 Victorian house, is comprised of two rooms and an enclosed porch. The rooms are decorated with lace curtains, floral swags, gilded mirrors, and assorted tea related trinkets. Teapots or tea cups that have been arranged with colorful silk flowers cheerfully grace each table. The menu is extensive with two varieties of quiche, seafood bisque or soup of the day, in addition to salads, sandwiches, or the afternoon tea selection. A choice of the seafood bisque or a garden salad preceded the arrival of the afternoon tea platter, which included a tuna salad sandwich, a tomato and cheese sandwich on sliced baguette (warmed), a seafood triangle, and an egg salad/tuna salad layered sandwich. There were also two sliced scones, and an assortment of sweet breads (a mini muffin, a tiny bread slice, a wedge of blueberry coffee cake, and a square of cheesecake). The sandwiches were all generous portions. A little dessert platter included a rolled cookie, cream puff, and a mini chocolate éclair. The food was plentiful. A visit to Barbara Ann's Tea Room provides a most enjoyable afternoon.

This tearoom is nice, the staff is nice, but that's all I can really say. Their teapots are nice and shiny because when you order hot tea the only thing that comes in the teapot is hot water; you get a little basket of tea bags. I prefer the standard English tea where it is prepared with loose tea, and then brought to your table. Its nice to go and have someone make you tea instead of making it yourself. I'm not really sure why they call themselves a Victorian tearoom -- the one dining room where I sat had a brick floor and it was an addition like one of those add-on sunrooms with wood paneling. If you looking for a place that is elegant and serves the fancy full tea look around for other tearooms.

On a trip from central New York down to Knoxville TN., a friend and I checked out three tea rooms. The Black Rose was our first. We had peach vanilla iced tea. The rim of the glass was coated with sugar. A nice touch. It was refreshing and delicious. Since we were coming quite a distance we opted for the high [sic] tea because it included soup and salad. The cold soup was thinly sliced cucumber with milk, and the salad was in a tiny sherry glass. I don't recommend them, especially for the price difference. However, everything else was excellent. The tea room owner was very friendly and went out of her way to make us comfortable. We felt quite pampered. She offered us hot tea to go along with the desserts and and brought out four more scones. I had Darjeeling. It was excellent. If I ever pass through Hanover again I would definitely revisit The Black Rose tea room

This tearoom is nice and roomy and pleasantly decorated, the hostess is very nice, and service was good. We ordered the extra soup and salad to go with our Victorian afternoon tea which was served after the peach vanilla iced tea served in a sugar frosted glass. Excellent. However, the cold cucumber soup was served in a very tiny dish and was just milk with shredded cucumber in it. The salad was served in a sherry glass and consisted of 2/3 slices of cucumber and some onion and dressing. If the salad had been served in a dish the size of the soup dish it would have been better but was not worth the added $6. The scones were very good, hot tea, sandwiches etc, fine. We were offered more scones which we gladly accepted; the dessert part of the tray left something to be desired.

This was my first tea room experience years ago and I still enjoy returning, although I must admit that the portions have gotten smaller and the pots are no longer "bottomless." Perhaps they never were; I didn't realize it as a new patron. At any rate, this tea room is still a very nice break from the hustle and bustle. It now also has a bistro next door for the fellows who feel their masculinity threatened (haha) by all the lace and flowers, and any of the teas and scones are also available there.
My experiences there have ranged from excellent to fair, but average out to a very high "good." Over the past two or three years there have been a couple of waitresses who didn't work well, and that may account for the very bad experience described by another reviewer. Whoever spoke with him on the phone clearly was either new or just did not communicate well, because cream teas, or tea and scones, do not require a reservation, and the only time a credit card is needed for reservation is for the occasional special theme tea. I have never had such a problem, and in the past two years have had no problem with the personnel. The owner has even bent over backwards to accommodate me when my guest for a specialty tea had emergency heart surgery. The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating, though they might be a bit over-extended on busy days with the bistro added on.
There is also an adorable children's dress-up play area in the back, where they can have tea and play to their heart's content. I have brought a very young friend to this tea room on more than one occasion and we had a marvelous time.
My only caution would be: if you need more than sweets, be sure to eat something substantial beforehand. While the food is delectable, it is a bit heavy on the sweet side, and you pay extra for seconds, so if you have sugar problems, you might mention it beforehand and ask if your food can contain more savories and fewer sweets.

I took my mother here for a special lunch. The atmosphere is wonderful. It is very relaxing and warm. We both had full tea. It was a lovely mixture of sweets, savories, and finger sandwiches. My mother chose to have her tea iced, she said it was wonderful. I had an excellent raspberry tea. You could spend an afternoon just looking at all the Victorian crafts and artwork. Spend the time and a little extra money and treat yourself to an afternoon at the Black Rose.

The Black Rose was my first tearoom experience in this country. It became the standard by which I measure subsequent experiences. I have enjoyed full tea and special occasions there, such as holiday teas and birthday teas. The staff are very professional, well-trained and dedicated. They are happy to accommodate vegetarian requests and the food has always been delicious and innovative. There is an extensive selection of teas which can also be purchased to take home. I never leave without finding some interesting items in the gift shop. I enjoy tea at Black Rose several times each year. My only regret is that I don't live close enough to enjoy it as often as I might like!

When you have teatime, especially if you go out to a tea room, it's like an island of civility in what is often an uncivilized world. The person in the previous review unfortunately seems to be among those who add to the lack of civility that most tea lovers seek to escape from. It really made me sad to read it, especially since it appears it was written in the same mean-spirited mockery as the visit itself, and intended to keep people from going to Black Rose. If he and his wife didn't like the ambiance or the tea served in this tea room they might have done the courteous, civil, and sensible thing and simply gotten up and walked out. People who take pleasure in trying to make other people look stupid do not succeed in anything other than displaying their own bad manners and ego issues. (He and his wife "toy" with the waitress and then he wonders why he never saw the waitress again after she delivered the food! They're lucky they didn't get their food and their tea dumped over their heads!) Before my mother and I took my two children to Black Rose I showed them the previous review as an example of how people should NOT act towards other people. Although I cannot claim to having visited scores of tea rooms around the world, I have been to many in the USA and a few in Canada and England. Each tea room is different, with their own strengths and weaknesses -- some have the best tea prepared just right, others excel in service, others in food, and a few get two or even three out of three. You need to enjoy each of them for what they offer, or don't go there. I don't think that Black Rose is the best tea room I've ever been to, but it is definitely one of the nicest. We enjoyed the food very much, and thought the room and the furniture were attractive and very comfortable (we are all of a normal weight so we don't usually have trouble with chairs not being able to accommodate us). But we were most impressed with the service. The staff there were so cordial and welcoming, and there didn't seem to be anything we could ask for that they were unwilling to accommodate. We just felt so pampered! They knew how every item on their menu was prepared (in many places the servers don't know) and graciously arranged for some small changes, and we didn't feel any need to test them about their knowledge of tea, furniture, or any other topic. Since we did not bring a ruler we can't confirm the exact size of any of the food portions served to us, but everything seemed to be about right for an afternoon tea (which, like a cream tea, is more of a snack than a full meal). The staff were very good with the children, and they in response acted like a young lady and gentleman with impeccable manners. (Maybe they can teach one or two adults a few things about manners.) When I want the finest possible tea leaves prepared for me I will probably go to another tea room. But when I want to spend a pleasant afternoon with family or friends, with good food and the tea prepared properly, I will probably choose Black Rose again (and I'm happy to think that we won't run into the previous reviewer and his wife while we're there!). (P.S. We bought some really nice, cute Christmas presents while we were there.)

I have been to tea rooms with my wife from Edinburgh to London and all across the Midwest. We called on our way from Gettysburg and made reservations for cream tea (what I call lunch). [Note:
Cream tea, sometimes called light tea or elevenses, generally consists of hot scones, jam, and clotted cream. It is more similar to our morning "coffee break," rather than a full lunch. - TeaGuide] The lady taking the reservations wanted our phone number so she could charge us if we did not show up. (How I do not know.) We arrived and received a blast in the face from the air conditioning heat rejection discharge which is right over the door. We were seated in rickety old chairs; sure they look good but can't people find something that looks good and is comfortable? Perusing the tea menu for what tea we were to be served, we found that they had two or three "unfruity" black teas and no "unfruity" green teas. The waitress was unfamiliar with green teas and was surprised that they came unflavored. That right there scared me, but hey, I was there for the wife. Ah, after checking in back they do have a single unflavored green tea. Next a battle of intellects over types of teas was engaged by the waitress attempting to prove her smarts now that she was made to look uninformed about green teas. The wife toyed with her and finally let her down gently allowing her to slink off to the kitchen to prepare the tea. I have no idea whether it was teabags or loose, as there was no sign of bags or infusers when the teapot appeared. Next came the food. Two small scones with raspberries in them and two strawberries covered the bottom plate of the tier with a couple slices of oranges thrown in. The next plate carried four 2"x2"x1/8" thick "sandwiches," two made from a seafood spread and two from a veggie spread. The upper level contained two 1"x1"x1" mint brownies, two 2"x1"x1/2" "slices" of angel food cake, two 1/16" thick "cookies," and two mints. Now, I have gone into great detail as to the food so as to allow the reader to appreciate the next bit of information. We did not see a price until we went to pay (our mistake). Total cost for two cups of tea each, and the above "lunch".... $25.00.(OUCH!) Never saw the waitress after the delivery of the food. Sugar was cubes (brown and white sugar) in a piece of china with sugar tongs. Tea was "ok" but the emphasis was on the fruity stuff. Stuff to sell was "cutesy" not really tea related in the majority although there were some tea related items. The back room seemed set up for a children's tea area. I would not recommend this tea room.

I live in Maryland and must travel 75 to 90 minutes to have tea at the Black Rose, but it's worth it! You will feel like a princess in this quaint little tea room. I've visited for summer tea and winter tea, and the food and teas served were totally different for each. Be sure to take spending money, because you are sure to find something that you'd like to buy. A true treat for all tea lovers!

I had always enjoyed this place before, but my last visit was probably the last. One scone I had was burned on the bottom, and when I said I couldn't eat one of the items because of the ingredients, no alternative or compensation was offered. On my previous visits when I requested decaf tea, I was given a selection. This time, I was not asked, and just presented with something without finding out if I liked it or not. Also, we felt rushed to leave, because the server was hovering around our table as soon as we had paid the check. Finally, my friend and I wanted to have a relaxing time to discuss issues we needed to talk about in private. Unfortunately, the place is cramped, and we were seated right outside the kitchen with heavy traffic. Furthermore, we were near a cold entrance and beside a noisy group.
Would you go back? Sorry, no.

When out-of-town guests arrived, my girlfriend wanted to treat them to a relaxing lunch. She selected the Front Porch Tea Room. I am so glad she included me. We had a very delicious choice of flavorful teas brewed to perfection, nice and hot. All the food choices were excellent and the service was very personable. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we were able to purchase our favorite teas. I would highly recommend this tea room for your "tea party."

I just love The Front Porch Tea Room. I have been there ten or twelve times in the last few years. Bonnie Helm is a wonderful, sweet hostess. The thing I like best is the presentation and all the little details she attends to. You really feel special and relaxed. She encourages you not to rush and just enjoy.
When you get there you are encouraged to pick out a hat to wear. She says the sillier the hat the more fun you will have. The hats also make for great photos. Your table is all ready for you, labeled with a reservation card with your name on it. She brings out one or two teapots with cozies on them, and real cream. Then you are brought a delicious fruit cup. After the fruit is your salad, and not just an ordinary salad, yumm. Then you have your choice of two soups; they are always good. After that you have your scones and tea biscuits with her delicious Devonshire clotted cream, lemon curd, and jam. Then comes the tea sandwiches -- they are great too. Finally comes the dessert and you get a choice of two. They are creative and delicious.
The menu changes every month and I honestly can't say I have ever had anything I didn't like. The surroundings are beautiful, very Victorian. The atmosphere is romantic and comfortable, with soft music and lots of little white lights for accents. There are many things for purchase and a full gift shop upstairs. Make sure to use the restroom while you are up there because there are items in there as well. If you are ever in the area please try The Front Porch. You will have a great time. She also offers special dinners, brunches, and tea on the patio. I have been to many tea rooms and this is just my favorite.

What a charming delightful get-away; I felt like I had stepped back into time. The tea was served in an unhurried Victorian atmosphere that keeps me coming back for more. The tea is brought to the table wrapped in a cozy to ensure it stays warm. The tea is steeped to perfection and several flavors are available. Each month is something new!! True lump sugar and cream are served. The proprietress is a charming woman who will instruct anyone (including a troop of Brownies) in the fine art of Tea Manners (and manners in general). The gift shop is a tea delight. Even the powder room is worth the visit! The food is gourmet quality at very reasonable prices. The traditional English tea fare is served with an infusion heart. American staples (salad and soup). Save room for desserts -- there is always a choice of two, and go with someone who likes to share so you can sample both. The taste and presentation of the food are unequalled in tea rooms around this area. The attention to details and the art of tea is what makes this a top-notch tea room.

My mother in law and I went to Abigail's for a Celtic Woman formal tea. The meal was a traditional Celtic four course tea. Throughout the tea we were served two different types of tea in nice china teacups. We were also served a pot of tea of our choice. The food was great and it represented the Celtic Isles. The tea was great also. The appearance of the tea room could be better. The tea room is still being renovated from an old bank into a tea room. In the room where they do the formal teas there are fake wall partitions blocking off different areas of the room. They bring the appearance down. The staff was knowledgable of tea and also of the Celtic tea traditions. It was a very enjoyable outting! It was my first formal tea.

We visited this tea shop on a Saturday with our two children, and we were all very impressed. There is a large selection of loose and bag teas available, but not so large as to be overwhelming. We did not try any of the bag teas, but the loose English Breakfast and Vanilla Spice were both excellent. The table setting, room decorations, and background music all add very positively to the experience, and the tea sandwiches, the scones with jam and clotted cream, and the sweets were all excellent. About the only suggestions for improvement that we might have would be to add another flavor or two to the jam selection and perhaps to serve a bit less food in the full high [sic] tea (we would have been perfectly willing to pay the same price for 6 tea sandwich quarters instead of 8). But these are just minor items in what was, without a doubt, one of the best tea experiences that we have had in the US and Canada, and it compares favorably to any tea we have had in the UK.

The only quibble I would have, and it's a small one, is that the flatware, while very pretty, is a bit too big for the china service, and it feels a bit awkward to use, with the small plates. Pearl Dexter of Tea a Magazine was there for a book signing a few years ago, and I had a lovely time and added two new tea books to my "library". I can't say enough good things about this charming oasis of  Victorian gentility.

While visiting my mother in Lansdale we ran across this wonderful little tea shop and made a reservation. We felt like we were in heaven from the moment we walked in the door. The decorations were beautiful, the music playing the background was just perfect, the tea and food were pleasantly presented and tasted great. I had the light afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, fruit, scones and other sweets. My mother had the cream tea with scones, sweets and fruit. The jam and cream for the scones were heavenly. The teas were loose teas brewed in gorgeous teapots with all the trimmings. Although I do not live in PA, I will definitely return the next time I visit my mother and she has promised to visit in the meantime.

My mother and I visited Thyme for Tea after making the advised reservation. We couldn't have been more pleased with everything about our afternoon. The room was beautifully decorated, the atmosphere was lovely, the food was delicious, and the service was just right. I will definitely go again, probably at least once a month. We love tea rooms and don't often find one that serves the traditional tea sandwiches and good soup as well. There is always a little something off about the other places we have visited since losing our favorite tearoom in Skippack, PA to a poor substitute which has since closed. Congratulations to Thyme for Tea for filling the void that has been in our dining enjoyment for several years now.

A friend and I took tea today at Thyme for Tea. We had a lovely and relaxing time. The room holds only six or seven tables and reservations are recommended. I think the size is just right and lends itself to a more intimate atmosphere. Music played softly in the background. The decorations were elegant. There is a small gift shop located behind the tea room with a nice selection of collectibles, books, teapots, tea cups, and other tea things. There are also small bags of loose tea available for purchase as well as some Victorian style items.
The tearoom serves cream tea, light or full afternoon teas, and a nice variety of loose teas to choose from. (Currently, the prices are $9.95, $13.95 and $17.95 respectively with tax and gratuity included.) We had the light afternoon tea. One of us had a pot of Prince of Wales Tea and one had the Savannah Blue Lady Tea. The pots held 8 to 10 cups of tea and were perfectly brewed. There were five small finger sandwiches apiece, which included a chicken curry served in a phyllo dough cup that was absolutely delicious. The heavenly scones, both a plain and a cinnamon for each of us, were served with cream and lemon curd. The choices of sweets were delightful , five or six pieces per person, with a few pieces of fresh fruit added. Everything was very nicely presented and we were pleasantly full when we were finished. To have the full tea, adding a soup and quiche to the above selections, is something I want to try at another time.
We are happy to have this tearoom open in our area and plan to return.

Some friends and I just visited this tea room. It was very hard to find a parking spot. When we stepped in the door we were very impressed by the tables and room. There is only one small room. With just a few tables. The tables were perfectly set with beautiful dishes and teacups. We wanted to order high [sic] tea but when we asked about some of the things on the menu that were included with this tea the server informed us that they didn't have some things. (Why would you have it on the menu?) We ordered the lighter tea lunch for $13.95. We got a pot of tea which was brewed rather well, two scones a per person that were good but very small, two very tiny tea sandwiches and a mini cheese-ham muffin, a store-bought petit four, a piece of sweet tea bread that was 1"x1", and a burnt-hard brownie bite I could not even cut with my knife. The meal was listed in the menu with the fruit garnish as a part of the meal. All in all this tea room was beautiful but the food was horrible. We were very hungry when we left but didn't have any money left! It was over-priced for the amount of food you received. You could have put all the food on to one small saucer! I want to give the place the benefit of the doubt by visiting in a year to see if things have improved. You can tell the owner is really trying to do a good job.

For lovers of the leaf and polite company everywhere -- I just read the review above and wonder if the author could have addressed the concerns directly to the proprietor of Thyme for Tea at the time of the visit. I know Ms. Porro, the proprietor, prepares and serves the food personally, and know she would have gladly taken every measure possible to assure their total satisfaction. I have not had a less than perfect experience at Thyme for Tea.

I eat at tea rooms about two or three times a month and I love the atmosphere of a great tea room. I view Thyme for Tea as a great tea room. I go about once or twice a month. As a repeat customer I strongly believe I offer a fair assessment of this establishment.
Each time I have been at Thyme for Tea it has been a pleasurable and relaxing experience. It is hands down my favorite tea room in the Philadelphia area. The reason is the attention to small details. Cloth napkins are used, bone china tea cups, heavy flatware, soft music, and a beautiful atmosphere allow me to relax, gather my thoughts, while having a wonderful lunch. I always get the full tea even. I just don’t want to miss eating something wonderful. Who knew roast beef sandwiches could be so good? The full tea includes soup, savory, four or five sandwiches, three or four desserts, and two scones. Oh, the cream for the scones is wonderful. Go there and she may tell you her secret. Each time I am there, I order a different tea so that I don't miss a good one and I have loved them all. She offers sugar in cube form, not packets or bowls. I love a couple of lumps. If I can say only one thing about Thyme for Tea it is this: Visit, enjoy a cuppa, and decide for yourself.

I went with some reservations after reading one of the other reviews. However, my experience couldn't have been more different nor more positive. Everything from the service to the food to the décor was very nicely done. The owner herself served the food along with a delightful young woman. I particularly appreciated that the two of them were dressed appropriately, each wearing a cute teapot print apron. The owner also took time to answer some of my questions about items in the shop. The gift section had many nice items and I purchased two after seeing them being used in the tearoom -- including the teapot print apron! I would highly recommend this tearoom!

Recently, my husband and I and two friends shared an absolutely wonderful experience at Thyme for Tea. We stepped into a cozy room, tastefully decorated, and were warmly greeted. Our server was very helpful in making our tea selections and explaining the different choices on the menu. As we chatted, soft background music played. Our first cups of tea were perfectly poured for us, followed by a very ample supply of food presented beautifully. We enjoyed everything from the tiny rosebud topped clotted cream and lemon curd for our scones, through the tea sandwiches, sweets, and fresh strawberries.
A small charming nook in the back held unusual as well as necessary supplies for tea enthusiasts to purchase.
We will return and highly recommend it.

We are a group of church ladies who enjoy visiting area tea rooms. Today there were just two of us. We both tried the "Buckingham Palace Garden Party" tea, with touches of Earl Grey and jasmine. It was brewed perfectly. We had questions about decaffeinated tea, and appreciated very much the owner's explanation of how we could decaffeinate our favorite teas at home. It was a very enjoyable visit. The tomato cheddar soup was out of this world, and the scones were the best I've ever tasted. They were served with lemon curd and cream, decorated with tiny rosebuds. We had an assortment of delicious tea sandwiches, scones and sweets, served beautifully on a three-tiered server with fresh blossoms and garnished with fruit. The tea room was decorated in lovely Victorian style. Best of all, the wonderful teas, as well as decorations and accessories, could be purchased in the gift shop. I bought several of the delicate white filigree teapot candleholders which filled the room with such a lovely light. It was a delightful experience, and we will certainly be back.

This wasn't my first time to visit Thyme for Tea, and a friend and I have posted a review after our first visit there. I just had to post again after this past Friday night's experience. Four of us attended an evening of High Tea and Harpistry. Joanna Mell was the very talented harpist who played throughout the evening. One of our group had Russian Caravan tea, another the Angel Falls Mist, an herbal tisane, and my daughter and I shared a pot of Moonlight Sonata tea. The food was delicious, and beautifully presented. The menu included crackers with a savory spread to start, followed by Tomato Dill Bisque, salad, savory scones with herbed butter, choice of a beef or seafood entrée, whipped potatoes, and string beans. This was followed by an incredible dessert of cappuccino mousse served in a chocolate teacup. As usual, the attention to detail and attentive service helped make our visit even more special. The food was wonderful and plentiful, and the atmosphere was relaxing as always. The addition of the live musical performance added to our enjoyment of the evening. I can speak for each member of our group in saying that we'd all recommend attending one of these special events if you get the chance.

My friend and I visit a different tea shop once a month to de-stress and enjoy afternoon tea. Thyme for Tea will be one shop that we return to in the future. The décor was enchanting, the tea selection was vast, and the service was lovely. We enjoyed a cup of homemade soup with a small side salad that had a delicious light herbal dressing. The selection of tea sandwiches was limited, but still good and very fresh. The chocolate chip scone with chocolate glaze was incredible. It was one of the best scones I've ever enjoyed. The desserts were just as tasty. The atmosphere of this shop is very relaxing, and the small gift shop in the rear of the shop is not to be missed. The owner and the server were both very friendly. I'd highly recommend this shop to anyone visiting this area, but be sure to have reservations.

This is not the typical English tea room, but more Irish ... simple good lunches without all the lace. It really lives up to the corner store feel, and the food is fresh and innovative. I've been going there for years, and it's always consistently good. Especially the soups, and the vegetarian sandwiches. I'm shocked at some of the reviews I've read on your site ... do they have the right place? Try it ... there aren't waiting lines for no reason!!

I've been to this tearoom three different times. I use the word tearoom very loosely. It's always loud because they allow young children to dine there. I don't have anything against children but I feel that children get bored and the mom won't have a relaxing meal. It is also distracting and makes an unpleasant time for the surrounding customers. This third time I came is probably going to be my last time. Me and a friend went for lunch around 1pm. They close at 2 and they were busy. Our waitress was rude and in a hurry to go wherever she had to go. They only had one soup left; the other one wasn't available -- it was sold out. So since I got the lunch that came with a soup I had to get the pumpkin fiesta soup. I don't like pumpkin but I'm up for anything. So I get my lunch and while I'm eating I see that my waitress is offering the potato chowder to other customers. I was really annoyed because when I said something about it she just blew it off saying that they made a new batch. Why would a restaurant that was closing in a half an hour make a new batch. I felt that she could have told me that they were making more of it and could have brought it out later. The waitress wasn't very gracious, as you would think a tearoom waitress shouldn't be wearing jeans and a t-shirt. It's definitely diner style. I just want to get across that everyone calls this place a tearoom and its so very very far from tearoom style, food, and elegance. If you're looking to go to a tearoom search around for other options.

I felt the atmosphere here was more like a luncheonette. It definitely wasn't a tea room atmosphere. The tables were crowded together so you could hardly move, and the noise, at times, was unbearable. It doesn't have the peace and quiet of a tea room and tea was hardly mentioned on the menu. I had to ask what kind of tea they were serving. While the food was tasty, if I had wanted to eat lunch, I would have gone to a restaurant, but I wanted tea. There were no tea cakes or such offered. I would not recommend this place as a tea room.

I visited this tea room more than once and am pleased with it. It is sometimes hard to get a seat there. The things I liked most were the beautiful bouquets of fresh garden flowers on each table and the bouquets available for purchase. I loved having a pansy on top of my fresh fruit!! I took my 15-year old daughter there for her birthday and she really enjoyed herself. It's someplace special to go to with special friends for special times! The chicken salad with grapes and walnuts on a fresh croissant was terrific. I didn't care for the tea sandwich sampler, as I thought the spreads were too mushy-like. But other than that it was great!

This wonderful place was found by a group of ladies on their way to quilt show about three years ago. Two ladies are from England, Jessie and Margaret, say it is just like being home. A pot of tea for each person was just super, in fine china to boot. The hot spinach and mushroom sandwiches are a must for lunch. Our ladies have been back to this tea room three times and drove two hours to get here. Worth the ride; the country is just beautiful. A peaceful place for lunch. We will be back again in October for lunch and another quilt show in the area. This time we may try the breakfast menu. Give this wonderful place a try.

Our group of ten visited this Victorian tea room and it was divine. It was a five course tea, everything was fresh, and the tea was hot. The owner made us feel more like friends than guest and shared history about tea and quaint stories. We especially liked the soup, creamy tomato basil with four-cheese tortellini, and the baked apple stuffed with cherries, pecans with vanilla bean ice cream on the side. We bought teapot necklaces and earrings for under $13.00 and have already scheduled a fall and Christmas theme tea. This tea room is a must!

On a gray, chill, February afternoon, how satisfying to enter the welcoming, soothing comfort of Nancy's Sweet Rememberances Tea Room. Our table was ready with fine china, brocade clothe napkins, lace table cover and, quiet relaxation. Soft classical music was playing. We selected Strawberry Cream tea, and also, Hao Ya B which is a black Keemun. My daughter and I enjoyed ourselves--two women that we are-- sharing, planning, listening, talking, at times holding our teacups in silence. We will come again to this quiet, cozy place and, to the pots of tea and the three tiered tray with its assortment of  sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, jams, and sweets. Our teapots were filled again with different choices of hot tea.  Nancy wrapped what food that was left for us to take home. Thank you Nancy. Excellent as always. We will return.

My visit to this tearoom was a very pleasant respite on the way back to Upstate New York. We had reservations for 1pm and even though we arrived early were warmly welcomed and served fairly quickly. A wide selection of teas were offered but sadly no chia tea which is a favourite. The three-tier tray of finger sandwiches and scone, fruit, and desert were just right for my taste and that of my travelling companions. An altogether enjoyable experience.

Yesterday I had a wonderful, relaxing experience at Nancy's Sweet Remembrances tea room. My friends and I enjoyed an herbal luncheon and were pleasantly surprised. We were seated at an exquisitely set table in the cutest room decorated with food-related antiques. We were offered a large variety of properly brewed loose tea. We sampled three different kinds and enjoyed them all, especially the chocolate raspberry. The tea was served in beautiful teapots kept nice and hot with colorful cozies. We enjoyed a well prepared and impeccably served meal including appetizer, soup, salad, entrée, and dessert in a most relaxing atmosphere. The price was a real bargain at $18, including tax and tips. Nancy and her staff made us feel like royalty. The entire experience was thoroughly enjoyed by all in our party, and as we overheard, by others in attendance. We are already planning a return trip to try Nancy's afternoon tea. I can't think of a more relaxing, enjoyable way to spend an hour with friends.

I attended the SereniTea Wednesday afternoon tea with my friend, and it was such a delightful treat. Everything about this tea room was fantastic. The loose leaf tea was brewed perfectly and served in a small teapot so that I could sample a different type of tea once the teapot was empty. I really enjoyed the Tranquilla Tea (an herbal infusion). We were served a refreshing strawberry lemonade iced tea with fresh strawberries when we were seated, which was a nice touch. The food was great. The chilled strawberry soup was delicious, and the tea sandwiches were unique and tasty. We were served two different types of scones, and both were heavenly. We each had our own little dish of cream, jam, and lemon curd. The three-tiered platter that held everything included a serving of fresh fruit, as well as four different types of sweets. The ambiance was relaxing (string music was playing), and the décor was so neat with lots of shelves full of antique collectibles. There was also a garden out back that guests were invited to stroll through. Nancy was the perfect hostess. I will definitely revisit this tea room.

House blend of tea served while you chose from over twenty loose teas including black, white, green, tisanes, and decaf. Sugar cubes. Afternoon tea consisted of a crumpet, salad, small quiche-like tart, little Cordon Bleu croquette, Boursin and pecan on rye round, deviled egg, watermelon-shaped cookie, fruit kabob with "heavenly" dip, raisin scone with clotted cream, lemon curd and triple berry jam, and a  watermelon sherbet parfait in chocolate covered waffle bowl.  Excellent food presentation with a seasonal menu and reasonable prices.

If serenity is what you are looking for, The Joy Garden is your answer. Housed in a Victorian-style conservatory overlooking a beautiful garden, the atmosphere is restful and healing. The staff is warm and friendly. The food is always interesting and they are happy to accommodate vegetarians. Teas including "Peace," "Hope," and "The Joy Garden" signature blend are delicious. This is a wonderful place to take your best friends to share quiet companionship.

My daughter chose The Joy Garden for our annual Mother's Day tea. She had previously visited this lovely tea parlor last fall with friends. We had a wonderfully relaxing tea in a beautiful conservatory. Although the flowers were not yet in bloom in the garden, the lush foliage assures it will be a spectacular display very soon. I can't recommend this lovely tea room enough. The owner stopped by to chat and the young lady serving us was very pleasant and friendly. They also have a lovely gift shop with many beautiful tea accessories.

Upon arrival, they seated my party in the restaurant area attached to the side of the Tea room. This area was dark, no windows and no Tea Room ambiance! I insisted on the move to the Tea Room side where there were open tables the entire time. Centerpiece of the table was very dirty and one of the seats covered with cloth was wet when my Mother sat in it, getting her slacks wet! Waitress very accomdating and pleasant. It I did not insist on moving my party, I would have remained in the restaurant area with empty tables in the Tea Room area. Hostess unorganized. Not sure if they used bagged or loose tea. Tea was kept hot which was nice to see.
Would you go back? Maybe.

I took my wife to Jessica's Tearoom as part of the celebration of her 30th birthday. I was somewhat reluctant given the fact that I am a male and do not share my wife's interest in visiting various tearooms. However, I must say that I enjoyed my visit to Jessica's as much as my wife did (she absolutely loved it). The quality of the food, portions, atmosphere, and service were all outstanding. I just may request that she take me there when my birthday rolls around (if I can wait that long)!

Jessica's Tea Room provides an extensive menu with many different options available. You may have cream tea, afternoon tea, high tea, soup and entrée, and other options also. We chose the "High Tea" which included a choice of soup, two scones with jelly, lemon curd and thin cream, a choice of two tea sandwiches offered from a beautiful tray full of various sandwiches, an entrée (which you choose from a wide selection of options in the menu -- a quiche, a puff pastry, sandwiches etc.), and two choices of desserts, again presented to you on a silver tray with many selections to decide upon. The tea selection is varied and is either iced or hot. The iced tea was garnished with an edible pansy. Many of the tea sandwiches were also garnished with sprigs of fresh herbs and pansies. Very festive. The tea room, located in an historic inn, offers seating the length of the bar with additional seating in a room situated off the bar. The bar also serves as the gift shop area. There was only one very busy waitress for the entire serving area, so our service, although adequate, seemed slow at times. We enjoyed our afternoon at Jessica's Tea Room and with such an extensive menu, offers many reasons to return and sample something new each time.

Along with my two sisters and three nieces, I went to a cream tea at Jessica's. Everything from the tea right down to the pastries were absolutely delightful. My one sister and I had been to Jessica's the previous month and wanted to take the other ladies to enjoy this experience. And enjoy they did. The younger children enjoyed the opportunity of choosing the items that they would like to eat from the tea, sandwich. and pastry selections. We older ones also enjoyed the selections. We plan on visiting Jessica's many, many times in the future. Oh ... the surroundings inside were lovely ... nice front veranda type porch to sit on either before or after tea. The wait staff were positively the most courteous, and the food absolutely delicious. Try it, you will love it just as we did.

(pizza, grilled cheese and such) This is one of the best tea houses in the area.

I had the pleasure of dining at the Heritage Tearoom; located on Main St. in charming Oley, PA. There was plenty of parking We were greeted in a most pleasant manner. We were seated in the Williamsburg room; there were 2 other rooms all beautiful and inviting the Victorian Room and Cottage Room. We were warmly greeted by our server who told us the specials and about the teas. They had a large variety and each pot was brewed fresh. I had the Apricot tea my friend had a chocolate raspberry that was delightful. I had the quiche my friend had the English High [sic] Tea which included desert. I found all the food to be tasty and beautifully served. Our server was friendly and attentive and we were not rushed. The atmosphere is relaxed and calming. We made reservations for next month for ourselves and I am planning to have my 10 year old daughter’s birthday tea party there in November.

Perhaps I was completely spoiled by Langhorne's Thyme For Tea, but I expected WAY more from this high end hotel. I came with about 5 young girls and a couple of older women for a societal tea party and was very disatisfied by the quality of sandwiches, the lack of variety and they way we had to have our own pot of just one type of tea- of course we could share but it was not easy to pass the large pots around. There was no sign at the valet letting us know we had to pay and after everything the tea came out to $31 per person and was not nearly worth it. I would not recommend going here for Tea.

The Rittenhouse is a beautiful upscale hotel in downtown Philadelphia. We attended a Bride's Tea last Friday. There were about 12 of us altogether. The surroundings were beautiful with vies of an outdoor garden. The table itself was very bland. The tea, however, was excellent. I had the Tropical Green Tea and I sampled the Pear Caramel. Both were delicious. The staff were curteous but not overly friendly. The food was prepared well and displayed nicely. We had a lovely time there but I do see room for improvement, especially in the table setting.

I went with three girlfriends to this tea room looking for good food and a relaxing time. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the food and the service. We each ordered the signature tea at $16.50 apiece. The tea was the best part, served in violet-pattern bone china, and we each had our own pot. The quality of food was fair but the quantity of food definitely needs improvement. For the four of us we shared one triple-tier tray with finger sandwiches on the upper tier and a skimpy plate of desserts on the middle tier and finally four scones on the bottom plate. The sandwiches consisted of egg salad, cucumber, and goat cheese, tomatoes, and lox. We each had about three pieces. The desserts plate consists of two of each of the following: chocolate dipped strawberry, petite éclair, petite fruit tart, and cream custard tart. We were not satisfied with the amount of food and had to order four more scones at $2.35 apiece. Our bill came close to a hundred dollars including tips and the amount of food hardly justified the cost. In addition, our table was right next to the entrance to the outdoor garden and there was a photo session with a bridal party taking place. The bridal party apologized to us when they had to squeeze pass us, but the staff and the management failed to take note of the situation. When we requested another table we were denied even though there were empty tables in the room. Finally we came up with the idea of moving the table a few feet away from the entrance. A supervisor sitting nearby looked at us and asked our waitress about the situation but did not attend to us, or offer us help. In conclusion, I would not recommend or patronize this tea room again.

My 2 friends and I visited the Four Seasons for afternoon tea on a Monday. The tea was served in pots that leaked whenever poured (all 3 of ours did the same) - the server did not apologize - just explained that is how it is. and I have had better tea selections. The service was ok -friendly waiter but the food took FOREVER to get to our table and when it did it was also so-so. The plain tea biscuit was extremely dry. When we asked for seconds - our waiter informed us the chef had already packed up and left for the day so the waiter made some quick sandwiches on his own - so we applaud him for customer service! Sorry not worth the $20 parking fee and the $26/person tea service!

I took my daughter, who was turning thirteen-years old, for tea. It was everything I had hoped it would be for her! The ambiance was beautiful. There were plushy chairs and couches along with a harpist. The cost at the time was around $20, which included a great deal of sandwiches, desserts, and tea. They also brought her for her birthday, as a surprise to me, a gourmet cake with sauces beautifully and artistically hand decorated all over the plate. They also have special tea functions for young children. We are going to make this an annual birthday event from now on!

The food was outstanding and abundant. The server even asked what our favorite sandwiches and desserts were and gave us extra to take home. We got the royal tea ... I think that's what its called ... we were served champagne and after tea we had a silver bowl full of fresh berries with Grand Marnier and whipped cream. I highly recommend this tea service.

My brother took me to tea at the Ritz-Carlton for my birthday, and I have to say I was a little nervous about feeling out of place at such a "Ritz-y" place. I needn't have felt that way. Tea is served in a somewhat enclosed area in the middle of the lobby, above which is a high dome with a large skylight. In this area there are a number of comfortable tables with chairs, and couches with "coffee tables," where you are served on Wedgwood china. My brother and I both had the delicious Green Passion tea, which was green tea scented with strawberry, guava, and pineapple, and it was served in individual pots. We also were served a three-tiered presentation of finger sandwiches (including smoked salmon with a vodka cream and caviar, smoked ham and turkey with chive cream cheese and asparagus, and cucumber and cream cheese with salmon caviar), scones (including lime-coconut, lemon and chocolate chunk, and banana-nut), and pastries (including cheesecake topped with coffee mousse, yummy butter cookie, and chocolate tart topped with peanut butter mousse). The nice thing about the three-tiered service is that you are hardly disturbed at all and yet the waiter seems to know exactly when you're finished or need a water refill in your pot. This was truly a decadent experience and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Nothing can compare with tea at the William Penn. Tea is served in the Terrace Room, part of the breathtaking Main Lobby, elegantly decorated for Christmas. Once seated, one is handed the cloth covered menu. You can choose from afternoon tea or royal tea, same food, royal tea included choice of champagne with chambord, mimosa, etc. On the menu were many tea selections. The knowledgable server explained any teas we asked about and was very familiar with each of them. The tea was served in tall pots with the loose tea steeping inside; a strainer was set at each place. The sandwiches and desserts were served on a plate with a footed silver platter on top. Scones with devonshire cream and berry jam, chicken waldorf sandwiches, vegetable  pesto sandwiches, smoked salmon sandwiches, and pecan filled chocolate shells to name a few of the delightful sandwiches. At $17 and $25 (afternoon or royal) tea at the William Penn is fairly priced, but it is well worth it at such a grand location.

The William Penn Hotel is the doyen of the city's first class hotels. They serve elegant afternoon "high tea" in the Baroque atmosphere of the main lobby. The experience is visually pleasant and delightful. However, it's the tea itself which brings us together; alas not at the William Penn. They need to pay attention to the quality of the tea served and they need to abolish bags!!! Thus far,  tea at the William still needs retooling. The politeness of service does not make up for the lack of knowledgeable training about tea, which is the fault of management, not staff.

Portions were plentiful and presented beautifully. The staff was very knowledgeable about the tea selections and offered a different tea should the one picked not be pleasing. All were very pleasant and accommodating of our request to exchange one food item for another. There wasn't a seat to be had within a half hour after our arrival but we were not rushed to finish and on the flip side those waiting were graciously informed, it would not be a long wait, and that was the case. A great place for every age and gender!

I went with a friend to Abigail's for Afternoon Tea and we had a great time! The staff was very pleasant and quick to take care of us. The food was delicious! The scones were out of this world and the tea was wonderful! There were many different types of teas to choose from, which was nice. It was a very relaxing type of atmosphere which is just what I think a Tea Room should be! Even the greens in our salad were crisp and delicious. The food was presented in such a lovely way. We saved room for our dessert and boy was it worth it! Yum!! We will defintely be returning to try out another tea!

I’ve visited this tearoom several times and each time the food was excellent. The menu changes monthly. They always serve a soup or a salad, hot scones, a savory course with a mix of traditional and unusual treats, and a dessert tray featuring several small items, not just one big hunk of cake as other tearooms in this area have started doing.
There was a tea menu featuring some flavored teas but mostly tisanes and about four nondescript plain teas. But the tea was served fresh and correctly brewed in teapots with mesh infusers. We were instructed on when remove the infuser and provided a saucer to hold it.
The room itself is pleasantly decorated but small so the tables are close together. This was a major problem when a friend and I were seated next to a group of about twenty RedHatters. It was really impossible to hold our own conversation and the hysterical laughter and boisterous behavior from the older ladies was really not conducive to a relaxing, enjoyable tea. The owner did explain that she had taken several additional reservations from the group just that morning and that normally so many people would be  considered a private party and no outside reservations would have been taken. Understandable, I guess, but in the future I’ll ask about RedHatters before I make my reservation.
This is a tearoom that I really want to see succeed. It is obvious that the owner is working really hard to serve wonderful food and tea in an atmosphere that will appeal to both women and men.

This is an excellent value. It's probably the most food we've seen at any tea room. There were 3 types of sandwiches, and about 20 sandwiches in total for two of us. The salmon and cucumber sandwich was awesome. There were two scones for each of us, plus something else that I can't remember. Then lots of desserts that we had to take home because we were so full. Excellent choice of teas as well. The setting was real nice - it is a converted trolley car, attached to the hotel. We highly recommend it.

The immediate feeling of welcome and warmth greets you as you enter Tilly Mint's Tea Room. We were a party of four and we had the full tea. Two of us shared a large pot of brewed Darjeeling that was both flavorful and light. The others enjoyed Monk's Tea, which was as smooth as honey and just as delicious, and Chocolate and Hazelnut tea which was akin to a light dessert. Each came in it's own pot with refills abounding if you wished. The very delicious food consisted of varied tea sandwiches of egg salad, chicken salad, and kiwi and cream cheese. There were scones that were warm and light served with small pots of clotted cream, lemon curd and strawberry jam. The desserts were all "tea tiny" and featured everything from a creme brulee, from Princess Diana's favorite recipe, to baked sweets and fresh fruit. The service was excellent! Trish was so personable and was spot on in making sure that we had exactly what we wanted. Go! Enjoy! You will return many times.

This is our favorite, we have visited many tea rooms in the area!! I go with my three children who love tea,  ages 12, 10, and 6. They adore the special touches, but by far, Tilly Mint's goes above and beyond. They children's tea was the nicest and fullest I have seen with kid friendly foods. My elder daughter and I had the light tea, the scones were divine, cream wonderful and my daughter informed me if there were any sandwiches I did not want, she would be more than happy to relieve me of them. The desserts were great, some rich, some light and the fresh fruit perfect, sweet, and at the height of ripeness. We will definitely revisit this tea room. We all left full and again agreed that this was by far the best tearoom we have had the pleasure of visiting. The hostesses were also very helpful and chatted which was not the case in some other tearooms. They were knowledgeable about teas and genuinely seemed happy to converse. Again, truly a pleasure to dine.

Tilly Mints is a delightful tea experience for all ages. My first visit was in December 2007 and I have been there 3 times since. Trish and her daughter Jenny are such wonderful hostesses. The decor is perfect and the food is absolutely delicious. I even took 3 children ages 6 & 8 and they all loved the Jenny Ren for kids. From the assortment of teapots, teacups, and all the special touches to each plate this place is by far the best tearoom I have visited. I've even planned my 6 year olds birthday party at Tilly Mints. Don't miss this gem. It's worth the trip.

Karen Ann's Tea Room is well worth the visit. I am a man who normally gets "dragged" to tea rooms by his wife. What normally gets to me are those little sandwich corners that don't satisfy the male need for food. Karen Ann's Tea Room offers an excellent Teaman Sandwich that does it for me. The tea is also excellent. I tried this great Rosemary Mint Tea that was really interesting. The atmosphere was relaxed and I was able to listen to my wife chat without being hurried. She was very impressed by the atmosphere and friendliness of Karen Ann's Tea Room. I'm not normally into that but I kind of got a sense of what she meant. I would come back to this place, and don't tell my wife, but I won't even feel like I am being dragged. I can highly recommend this place.

This tea room is an excellent value, the food is delicious and plentiful. I am always amazed at what I get and for how much. It's not as charming as a tea room in an old Victorian house, but for a nice weekend afternoon tea, close to home, it's perfect. There is nothing missing from it because it is in a strip mall. I always enjoy shopping in their gift area where they have lovely, very affordable tea related items.

My husband and I visited Cambridge tea room for lunch. I ordered the "Tea Party". The tomato soup was delicious, I was quite pleased with my three tea sandwiches, and my dessert of orange shebert and fresh fruit was outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed my tea, which was served in a two cup tea pot with an egg timer. The room was decorated nicely, but not too feminine. My husband enjoyed himself as much as I did. On our way out, I purchased a gorgeous tea pot and some other tea accessories - priced quite reasonably. My only criticism is the size of the tables; the two of us felt a little cramped with two pots of tea, two mugs, two plates, and the centerpiece.

The tea was very good but the food was small and not that fresh. The decor is rather plain and the floor is pretty shabby. The worst part was the service. During our time there the worked shouted across the room at each other. We met the owner to inquire about doing a 40 person bridal shower then and she could have cared less! She wouldn't change things at all for us and basically said "take it or leave it." Between the owner's poor attitude and the bad service I would skip this tea room all together.

We often visit tea rooms whenever we travel. Having read mixed reviews, we came with an open mind. The tea was nicely brewed with the assistance of an egg timer. The server was pleasant and the food was fair. Having had tea dozens of times, I was puzzled as to the logic of serving a sugary scone before the finger sandwiches ... We would compliment the owner on her efforts, but would not return.

My husband and I visited the tea room on a Saturday afternoon. I have always wanted to try scones, so I ordered a scone. The scone did not taste great and looked different from other scones that I have seen before. The whipped cream served with it made the scone taste much better. The tea room had a wide variety of teas, so wide that we had a hard time deciding which tea to get. Our tea was served with loose tea leaves in a wire strainer on top of the pot. We were given a timer which let us know when to take the leaves out so our tea would not taste bitter. Overall we had a great time there.

What a nice place to have and buy loose tea! I just recently moved to the area and have been looking for a place to buy my tea. The tea was great, the food was great and the service was great. The only thing lacking was the old Victorian house! The tea room is very quaintly decorated but alas it is located in a shopping center. I understand that it is sometimes cost prohibitive to use an old house but the charm is sometimes worth it. But a great place to visit nonetheless for good loose tea (and over sixty varieties or so) and nice giftware. Kudos to the owner.

I visited this tearoom while visiting relatives. It was very nice and cheerily decorated. It even had a fireplace. The homemade soup was excellent (a tomato bisque with basil), the tea sandwiches were fresh and decorated very nicely. I had a loose tea with a hint of vanilla which was very good. The waitress was very quick, efficient, and friendly. The scone I had was homemade, very light and delicious. It came with lemon curd and a sweet cream. Best of all, the prices were very reasonable. I'm from New York so that was a definite plus.

I visited this tea room today with a friend who recommended it. Thank goodness I listened to her as I read your reviews in this column and they were mixed. [Note: Please note that all reviews reflect the opinions of the individual reviewers and not necessarily the opinions of TeaGuide, which merely provides a forum for these reviews to be posted and shared.] I almost didn't come and would have missed a very nice place. The tea sandwiches were wonderful ... not on hot dog roll ends like some of the reviewers claimed, although one was on a poppy-seeded finger roll. The server was very friendly and helpful in explaining many of the entrées as this tearoom offers much more than just tea sandwiches. The server was very attentive even though it was very very busy at lunchtime. I ordered the "tea party" and was very impressed at the size and price of the meal. It was a crock of homemade soup which was delicious, three generous sized and decorated tea sandwiches, a two-cup pot of tea, fresh fruit, and a full-sized dessert for only $8.50. I left quite full and satisfied and will definitely return! Also the selection of giftware was great and I picked up some cute tea-for-ones, Easter knick-knacks, and a teacup display piece. Next time I will be sure to pick up one of their Bearington Bear collectibles, which are simply adorable, and I will pick up one for my granddaughter! Kudos to the owners of this delightful shop for making this an enjoyable place without the fussiness of some traditional tearooms.

When me and my friend made arrangements to visit this tearoom, I had no idea that it was located in a strip mall. They did a pretty fair job with trying to make it look appealing. The menu is mostly à la carte items like sandwiches and soups. It is definitely more of a café style. I did order their only course tea which was called "tea party lunch" which came with tea and little bowl of soup, three finger sandwiches, and dessert. They brought everything out all at once in a hurry. My tea was a teabag in a Corelle mug and a little teapot of hot water. My finger sandwiches were a cinnamon bread with a thin layer of plain cream cheese, and the other two were ends of hot dog rolls with the spreads in the middle. I was shocked! Finger sandwiches should be dainty and petite and decorated and good! I think they tried hard with what they have but for the long trip it took to get there I wasn't impressed.

I travel far and wide with a couple of friends to visit tearooms all over Pennsylvania. When I got the info about this tearoom off of The Cat-Tea Corner© I had no way of knowing that this tearoom is located in a strip mall. [Note: Please note that all reviews reflect the opinions of the individual reviewers and not necessarily the opinions of TeaGuide, which merely provides a forum for these reviews to be posted and shared.] We entered and were seated at a table with an ivy table cloth. The menu had a lot of choices. I ordered the Tea Party and a scone with cream and jam (you had to order this separately). The waitress brought everything out at once. So our tea, scone, soup, and lunch were all on the table at once. I did not like this. I felt rushed and I was afraid my soup was going to get cold. Two of the three tea sandwiches that were served were served on what looked liked hot dog rolls or dinner rolls. I was stunned. The tea was bagged tea. The soup was good; it was a chicken corn chowder. The scone was good. The cream was what I thought to be a whipped cream from a can. It was very light and airy. I had a good time with my friends but then again I always have a good time when we visit tearooms. But this good time wasn't because of the tearoom. I won't go back. I think it's great that they can get away with having a tearoom in a strip mall. I wasn't full when I left and it was pricey.

Very nice place indeed to visit for either lunch or afternoon tea! The tea sandwiches were delicious and plenty. The currant scones and lemon curd were superb. Very nice place. Will certainly visit the next time I'm in the area.

Cambridge Tea Room was wonderful! Attractively decorated in an English ivy motif. Freshly made tea sandwiches were delicious. Homemade scones were simply divine along with the homemade lemon curd. Homemade soups are superb ... and there was a choice of four! Staff was very efficient and friendly. The owners are very informative about tea, tea customs, and English history. One co-owner is actually engaged to a British physicist! One minor disappointment was the use of Bigelow tea bags and not loose tea. But at least two-cup individual pots are used. I would recommend a trip to this tearoom to everyone in the area! Delightful gifts, antique china teacups, and freshly baked goodies made the visit even more special.

We held my daughter's baby shower at the Wycombe Inn (after we had tried it out one Saturday afternoon). The owner couldn't have been more helpful, the tea flowed freely, the food was good served magnificantly. My daughter (and all of our guests) couldn't have been happier. We can't wait to take my granddaughter there and carry on the tradition!

Food and service were marginal. Desserts looked and tasted purchased. Sandwich fillings bland. Scones were hard and very sweet. The decor was very over done. The music would have been nice had we been able to hear it over the TV cartoons the kids had on in the next room. Were not offered more hot tea in our little pots. I really hate to give a bad review but I would not tell friends about it nor would I go back.

We did not have a choice of what flavored tea we wanted, and they only gave us two teapots to share amongst 8 people. The tea sandwich's were poor in taste. We had only 7 people coming originally, but we called the owner to let her know that we had 1 more person joining us, and she was so rude, and she said she ABSOLUTLEY would not accommodate 1 more person.

I am writing to share my experience at this wonderful tea room. Contrary to the previous review, my girlfriends and I have had nothing but lovely experiences at the Wycombe Inn for tea. We stumbled upon the tea room as we were planning a bridal shower for a close friend. We were actually looking in desperation, because the tea house we had already booked informed us eight weeks before the shower that they were closing. It is my belief that everything happens for a reason, and we were so happy that it did. We had such a lovely time on several occasions and all of our guests at the shower could not stop raving about the entire event. The food, service, and ambiance together combined to create a very special time. We had been to MANY tea houses in the area looking for the one that was perfect and this one was by far the best!

I write out of frustration because the owner of this establishment would not listen when we told her our experience fell far short of our expectations. Although we had been asked how everything had been, it's apparent no one really wanted to hear the answer. Instead the owner argued that we were wrong -- that she had been written up and had a good review. Because she seems to only care about the written reviews rather than her customer's immediate needs, I've chosen to make our review public.
Here's our story...
My sisters, nieces, and mom went to tea at the Victorian Wycombe Inn expecting a charming afternoon tea experience in celebration of Mother's Day. Perhaps we should have taken heed at the sight of the Miller Lite banner on the front of the building (if only it had been neon). In hindsight, I realize it says a lot about the establishment.
Despite having made reservations two months in advance, we were seated in the "overflow room" -- the Pepto Bismol colored painted porch. Despite the fact that ours was the only party in the porch, we were "lucky" enough to have a broken chair and a table so wobbly that items went flying off the table when someone applied a wee too much pressure upon sitting down.
After being seated things just kept spiraling downhill. Here are the highlights of our tea room experience.
- We shared four menus among eight people
- Dined on dollar-store quality plastic tablecloths combined with cloth napkins which wound up drenched from sopping puddles of tea left by the dribbling teapots (that's why they make drip catchers!)
- Tea was oversteeped and bitter
- Misinformation about tea -- calling rooibos decaffeinated -- it's caffeine-free, which is what makes it unique
- Menu item entitled "Fresh Fruit" turns out to be canned fruit cocktail
- Sharing four sugar packets for the two tables (which we had to put under one of the tables to keep it from wobbling)
- Scones that were flat and tasted like flour and water (PopTarts taste better)
- Grape jelly -- not strawberry or raspberry preserves -- with the scones
- "Devonshire Cream" that had been sitting on table prior to our arrival for who knows how long
- Burnt grilled cheese for the children's plate
- Lime green colored chicken salad -- the most unappetizing food we'd ever seen!
- Deceptive menu which did not make clear that tea was not included in the children's tea but any other beverage is
- Dined the entire time water-free although we had asked for it early in the meal
Perhaps this was an off day (it happens). The part that I just can not get over is the lack of compassion and empathy by the owner. A simple gesture, an apology, an acknowledgement that they had not done right by us, would have gone a long way in helping us to consider giving them the benefit of the doubt. Be warned that if you're not happy when you dine here, no one cares and they'll argue with you that you were wrong, because, after all, they had good a write up.

What a lovely place for a special holiday dinner! The tea was an excellent blend created by the owner/chef. The meal was well prepared and the homemade desserts, scones and cookies were delicious. The retail shop is delightful and the vintage tea china available for purchase is beautiful. Can't wait to return for high tea in February.

I felt I had to write this review because less than one month I have visited this tearoom and both times have been exceptional. The first time was for their Scottish Tea. They had a harpist and the menu was not only traditional but delicious. The second time was this past weekend at their Holiday Tea. Once again the service as well as the food was exceptional.

I did not know what to expect after reading one of the reviews that I saw on this website. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I had previously been to this tearoom when it was the Pink Petal. I found the new decorating changes and owner to be much more welcoming and the quality of the food far superior. We ordered a desert plate to share between the two of us and I was very surprised at the many choices on the tray. We had desserts ranging from lemon curd cups, to chocolate truffle cookies to Linzer cookies. I have to say I found the scones to be moist and delicious. I have already made by reservation for the Holiday Teas that they are offering.

I visited this tearoom for the first time due to a party that was given for a friend of mine. We were served their High [sic] Tea menu. It was outstanding. The soup was delicious. The sandwiches were tasteful and perfectly served. My favorite items were the deserts. I was surprised at the quality of them. They were just the right size and delicious. The staff and owner were very helpful. One of my friends is a vegetarian and in a matter of minutes they had taken care of her needs with no warning at all. I am definately going to go back to sample their lunch menu.

This is an ok tearoom-just ok. The tea sandwiches are copies of the sandwiches served at the Pink Petal, the scones are dreadful, and the desserts are good but nothing out of the ordinary. I could make them at home myself. I prefer to have something special. The tea was good, however as well as the service. The servers were actually friendlier than the owner. We did enjoy her British accent which makes it seem more autnentic. But as for this place surpassing the Pink Petal Tearoom (the former tearoom name), it is nothing like it and it is not hard to beat the Pink Petal, it is simply not possible in my humble opinion. If I am looking for a good cup of tea and I am in the area, I would stop in again but I would try lunch instead.
Would you go back? Maybe.

What a delightful experience. One of the best tearooms that I have visited in a long time. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing. The food was delicious and the deserts not only looked beautiful but tasted out of this world. My friend and I chose the house blend "Lily's Delight tea, which was one of the best teas that we have tasted in a long time. The owner is a lovely British girl who bakes all the deserts herself and knows how to make one feel at home. Everything was so beautiful that we did not want to leave.

My friend and I enjoyed the Victorian tea--a cup of incredibly good cheddar vegatable soup, the signature salad, the best tea sandwiches I've ever had (4), and an orange-cranberry scone with preserves, lemon curd, and cream. We added a mini dessert plate to share--incredible! The owner bakes all her own pastries--they were excellent and featured to-die-for brownies covered in chocolate chips, a variety of cookies, petit fours, nut tussies and tea breads. I had a pot of the Harvest blend tea--it was excellent and well prepared. The service was out of this world. The decor is elegant and relaxing. This is my new favorite place to go for tea. We are already planning to return this summer. I highly recommend it. It is even nicer than the Pink Petal--which was hard to top.
